MEMBERS of the public will have the chance to find out the latest on the £1.4bn cable manufacturing facility at Hunterston at an event next week.
Officials from XLCC, the firm behind the project, will hold a public event at Fairlie Village Hall to update residents on the progress of the plans for a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) manufacturing operation at the site.
North Ayrshire Council gave planning approval last May for the XLCC site, which is expected to employ up to 900 high-skilled permanent workers when fully operational.
The community update event will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 2-4pm and all interested members of the public are welcome to attend.
A recruitment drive for engineering apprentices was launched earlier this year in a partnership between Ayrshire College and XLCC.
Announcing the link-up, XLCC said its apprentice training centre, to be located in Irvine, was scheduled to open in June
