An 88-year-old woman has been taken to hospital following a two car collision on the A78 near Skelmorlie on Saturday afternoon.

Police have confirmed that an arrest has taken place following the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “About 2.40pm on Saturday, 18 May, 2024, we were called to a report of a two car crash on the A78 Skelmorlie near to Shore Road.  

“Emergency services attended and an 88-year-old woman was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment. 

“A female driver was charged in connection with a road traffic offence."
