An acclaimed musical trio are coming to West Kilbride for a special performance next week.
Transatlantic folk band The Magpies are quickly becoming one of the most exciting and innovative acts on the contemporary roots scene, and have played live on Mark Radcliffe's folk music show on BBC Radio 2.
The all-female group comprises singer-songwriter, guitarist and banjoist Bella Gaffney, fiddler and songwriter Holly Brandon, and singer-songwriter and guitarist Ellie Gowers.
Together they've received rave reviews from the Sunday Times and Daily Mail, and local live music fans will have the chance to see - and hear- the group play live at West Kilbride Village Hall on Friday, June 7.
Combining sublime harmonies with exquisite musicianship and impressive songwriting, The Magpies use their Anglo and American roots to draw inspiration from traditional Celtic folk, bluegrass and Appalachian trails for their own work.
They also champion gender equality in the music industry, with a fervent thread of feminism running through their music.
The BYOB gig starts at 7.30pm and doors open at 7pm.
Tickets (£15 for adults, £10 for under-16s) are available from the village hall on 01294 829590 or online at tinyurl.com/themagpieswk.
