A family picnic day in Largs this Sunday is being hosted by a campaign group that is seeking to delay smartphone use for children.
A spokesperson for the Delay Smartphones campaigners said: "Join in for a smartphone-free family picnic on June 2 in Largs.
"Meet other like-minded parents delaying smartphones. Everyone is welcome."
The event takes place next to the standing stone at Broomfields on the south side of the town between 12pm and 4pm.
The campaign website states: "Our aim is to protect children from the dangers of smartphones.
"The first children who were given smartphones in primary school are now adults. We now know for every year younger they were given smartphones by their parents, the worse their mental health is today.
"And their mental health is just the start of the serious harm that is caused to children by smartphones. Most parents are unaware of the latest research and alternatives available.
"Delay Smartphones began as a pilot campaign for three Edinburgh Primary Schools at the end of 2023.
"We are now supporting other schools and parents across the country, and would welcome pledges from any parent ready to make this commitment!"
