Emergency services attended an incident at a bridge in Largs on a major trunk road through the town.
Part of the A78 was closed off at the bridge next to the roundabout at Morrisons and Jewson's, with some traffic able to get through.

The incident, which the News understands arose out of concern for a person, led to long tailbacks, with police controlling traffic on Irvine Road.
Emergency services were parked in Waterside Street to provide reinforcements.
