A LARGS choral group is taking part in a fundraising concert in Largs for an important cause close to its heart.

The Upbeats' fundraiser for Epilepsy Scotland, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary, will be taking place at St Columba's building (the former Parish Church) on Friday, May 31.

Zac Baker, a young dad from Largs, sadly passed away in September 2022 due to Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) at the age of 31.

Since his passing, his daughter Isla has been thinking of ways to celebrate and remember her dad's life.

Last year Isla raised money for a memorial bench supported by friends, family and the community.

This year, Isla is joining her mum in The Upbeats with her beautiful voice for a solo in memory of her dad.

If you can't come to the concert, a JustGiving page is dedicated to the charity on behalf of Isla, her mom Colleen and The Upbeats.

For the last 70 years, Epilepsy Scotland has worked with people living with epilepsy to ensure that their voice is heard.

Around 58,000 people in Scotland live with epilepsy and the charity supports anyone with this common serious neurological condition, their families, carers and employers.

Entry is £7 at the door and children get in free. Tea, coffee and home baking will be available at the interval.

The popular choral group, led by Largs Academy music principal Craig Smith, get together for special occasions and charity fundraisers throughout the year.
