The chief executive of the Ayrshire Hospice has issued a fresh appeal for the public's support as the charity's revamped home continues to take shape.
The charity is in the midst of a £13 million redevelopment of its Racecourse Road home in Ayr, with its services decanted to locations including Ailsa Hospital in the town and the East Ayrshire Community Hospital in Cumnock.
But they say they need the public's help to raise enough money to complete the funding jigsaw for the project - with more than £2.5 million still needed to make the new-look facility a real 'home from home' for the people using it.
The build will include a new in-patient unit with 12 single, specialist palliative care en-suite rooms, clinical and community nursing hubs, and a vibrant playroom among other features.
The charity's chief executive, Tracy Flynn, is now calling on the public to give them some more support, to enable the charity to make the building extra-special.
She said: "We need your help. We have done well with fundraising and are almost there. We have just over £2.5m still to raise.
"That will be for the lovely things in our hospice, that will make it special. The lovely things that I say bring the magic for patients and their families.
"The lovely pieces of furniture, lovely lighting, lovely rugs, pictures; the things that will make our hospice a home from home.
"Please think about donating to your hospice, the hospice for the future. Thank you, we are very grateful."
