THE Largs lifeboat crew was alerted to reports of a boat on fire between Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay on Sunday.
The crew was advised that multiple 999 calls had been received of a boat on fire at around 10.45pm on June 9.
However, shortly after launching the crew was contacted by the UK Coastguard advising that local police were on the scene and that the fire was actually on shore, with no vessels in trouble.
The lifeboat was released from service and returned to the Largs lifeboat station, ready for its next call.
