THEATRE-GOERS in Largs will have a final chance this month to see an award-winning play performed by a local group - as they prepare to put their production up against the best in Britain.
The Largs Players won the Scottish final of the Scottish Community Drama Association (SCDA) One Act Play festival with their production of 'It's Behind You', by Alan McHugh, in April.
The team behind the play are now getting ready for the British final of the One Act Play Festival, taking place in Perth on July 11 and 12, with the Largs performance taking place on the second day of the event.
But before then, they'll bring 'It's Behind You' to the local stage for one last Largs performance.
The Players' production will be staged at Barrfields Theatre on Saturday, June 22.
Largs Players is believed to be the oldest drama club in Ayrshire and returned to SCDA competition earlier this year, winning the west regional final before going on to triumph against stiff competition from all over Scotland - the first time the Players have won the Scottish title.
The play centres around the onstage and off-stage relationships of the 'Dame' and the 'Silly Boy' and is set in the theatre dressing room, post-performance.
The 'comedy with realism', touching on the complexity and pain of modern life, features Danny Lindsay and Matt Wilkin, under the direction of Maggie Cunningham, who said Alan McHugh's script has been ''a joy to rehearse and perform".
A spokesperson for the Players saidsaid: "It’s vital to have a performance with an audience as our team prepares to represent Scotland at the British Finals in Perth on July 12.
So please come along and support them as they perform locally on Saturday June 22 - don’t miss this encore and last local performance of the award winning 'It's Behind You'.
Tickets for the Largs show cost £8.50 plus booking fee, and can be purchased in advance at www.ticketsource.co.uk/largsplayers or by calling 0333 666 3366.
