Change is an inevitable part of life and with it comes uncertainty and challenges that can leave us feeling unsettled and vulnerable.
Whether it’s a shift in our personal lives, or broader societal changes like with a General Election, working our way through these times can be daunting.
There is a hymn which many people will know. It’s often called the BB Hymn. "Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?"
This hymn speaks of the constant presence of God with us through the ups and downs of life.
Trusting in God is easy to sing about, but sometimes difficult to do! However, this trust can provide a firm foundation, giving us the courage to face change without fear.
People who have faith in God know that we can speak with God through prayer, which we would consider to be our direct line to Him, as we recognise that there are just some things we cannot deal with on our own.
And prayer is crucial during times of change. Saint Paul encourages us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
It is through prayer that we can seek God’s wisdom and direction, finding His peace, and the strength of the Holy Spirit, which can allow us to deal with an uncertain future.
Whenever change happens, as surely it will, it's essential to lean on the support of others. However, it is important to recognise who the right people are! So, who are the people you trust?
It is good to know that, while everything around us may be changing, God remains constant. As the Bible says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
Focusing on God’s unchanging presence provides stability. His love, promises, and grace remain the same, offering us a reliable anchor in the midst of change.
So, as we all grapple with the changes of life, why not ask God to help you? The only caveat with that request, is taking the time to listen for God’s answer!
