A NEW summer season of classical music concerts is under way in Millport.

Alastair Savage (violin), Euan Drysdale (guitar and piano) and Ian Crawford (double bass) will be performing in the next concert in the Cathedral of the Isles' series at 3pm on Sunday June 23.

Their concert is described as being in the Scottish fiddle tradition, with music from the 18th century and more modern pieces in a similar vein.

The concert series began on June 16 when pianist Mark Viner presented a programme including works by Chopin, Liszt and Alkan as well as Debussy's Suite Bergamesque.

Artists set to perform in future concerts in this summer series include pianists Angela Brownridge and Tyler Hay, the Telemann Ensemble baroque group, organist Gordon Stewart, and the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra.

The programme runs each Sunday at 3pm until the end of September.

All concerts are free of charge to attend and there will be a retiring collection after each event.
