Oasis former frontman Liam Gallagher left News reporter and fan Calum Corral reeling after mentioning him to his 3.6 million followers on social media.

Calum was among the fans present at the former Oasis frontman's gig at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on June 19.

And Calum's review caught Gallagher's eye after it was published online on Thursday.

Taking to his X feed later in the day, Liam said: "Calum Corral from Largs and Millport  - what you after LG x"

And Calum, who is a massive Oasis and Liam Gallagher fan, was left astonished as he received a string of social media messages alerting him to the posting.

Calum, 48, pictured below, said: "It was stunningly cool to get a mention from Liam to all his followers.

"It was all in good spirits, very much like his banter with the crowd last night.

"I picked up the original copy of Definitely Maybe on the day of its release from Rhythmic Records, on the recommendation of a college friend Bill Melrose.

"I remember the crackle of the vinyl record player as I put the stylus down and being amazed by what I heard.

"I also have very happy memories of attending Irvine Beach park for an Oasis gig in the mid-1990s.

"To see Liam back in action was a real spectacle, and to get a mention from the big man just topped it off. It's amazing for Largs and Millport to get this extra publicity from Liam too."

Calum also invited Liam to come to town for the Largs Live music festival on the weekend of June 28-30, which will see 50 bands play at seven different venues in the town over three days.
