THE Largs Community Resilience Team has received a donation of nearly £9,000 in a valuable boost to their emergency support efforts in the area.

The funding of £8,860 from the Morrisons Foundation has enabled the charity to buy a brand new trailer to transport vital equipment to events or when they are responding to a medical emergency across the district.

Lorraine Nicol, community champion at the Morrisons store in Largs, presented the donation to the charity.

The resilience team consist of a group of volunteers who provide medical support at community events and first response to emergencies.

Lorraine said: “I’m over the moon to help such a wonderful charity in our local community.

"The new trailer is absolutely fabulous and will make a huge difference to the team of volunteers who tirelessly provide medical support in and around Largs.

“Supporting local charities at the heart of our communities, like Largs Community Resilience Team, is what the Morrisons Foundation is all about and I’m very proud that we’ve been able to help them in such a meaningful way.”

Thom Williamson, chairman and coordinator of Largs Community Resilience Team said: “On behalf of the team, I would like to thank the Morrisons Foundation for their generosity to help us buy our new dual axle trailer.

"Without the kindness of local residents and organisations, we would be unable to provide the support that we are committed to delivering to the local community.”

“The philosophy of Largs Community Resilience Team is that when everyone works together to respond to a problem it becomes easier to overcome.

"That is why as individuals we have come together to support the community, ensuring that the North Coast of Ayrshire is resilient."

The Largs Community Resilience Team was established as a charity in 2016 and has provided invaluable medical support in emergency situations as well as providing marshaling and first aid to local events.

The team also supports the emergency services in the event of floods and lost or injured persons in the rural areas of Ayrshire.

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.

Since launching, more than £41 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
