Secondary school pupils in Largs rolled up their sleeves and volunteered to help local businesses and help spruce up local greens spaces.

It is part of the school's regular Community Day initiative which sees pupils go out to provide a helping hand.

Not only has it got children out and about, it has helped instill in them some community pride as they see the importance of volunteering and looking after the local environment, carrying out a beach clean on the south side of town.

A Largs Academy spokesperson said: "Another fantastic Communities Day with all of our S2 pupils volunteering to support local businesses, causes or initiatives. Superb efforts all round and great reports from those you have helped today."

Children were pictured helping out at Barrfields Park, Bowen Craig, and in Douglas Park helping out before the end of term.
