An Ayrshire firm has scooped multiple honours at an industry awards ceremony for its work on Cumbrae.

Green Home Systems won the Small Scale Project of the Year award and four highly commended and commended awards at the Scotland Energy Efficiency Awards..

During the ceremony, held at Glasgow's Crowne Plaza, judges recognised the firm for their work with the Carbon Neutral Islands Project on the island.

The project included successful renovation works at Millport Bowling Club, Millport Golf Club, and two island churches.

The initiatives are vital to Cumbrae's aim to be carbon neutral by 2040.

The Carbon Neutral Islands scheme is part of a broader government initiative to help six islands adapt and become more resilient to climate change effects.

The project is also ongoing on Barra, Hoy, Islay, Raasay and Yell.

Green Home Systems also received high praise in the Installation and 'Fabric Installer of the Year' category and were commended in three more categories: ‘Large Scale Project’ and ‘Housing Association’ for its work with Trust Housing Association on Arran; and ‘Local Authority’ for its ECO work with North Ayrshire Council.

Alastair Macphie, managing director of Green Home Systems, said: “Receiving the top prize for our work on this landmark initiative in Cumbrae is a truly fantastic moment, and is testament to the hard work and dedication of our amazing teams.

“The Carbon Neutral Islands Project is truly inspiring and we are proud to be a part of the island’s transition to greener energy solutions.

“Having this topped off with additional commendations for our other projects, from housing association to local authority work, is the icing on the cake."

Kenneth Campbell, the event organiser, said: "All our winners and nominees are at the sharp end of the industry, and they thoroughly deserve the recognition they receive at our awards."
