A church organ preservation society has thanked the people of Largs for turning out in big numbers to support their event showcasing the under threat Father Willis organ in the former St Columba's Parish Church building.
The Sowne of Organe group gave a presentation on the long history of the Father Willis organ since its inception within the church when it opened in 1892, and how it is considered one of the best preserved of its kind in the world.
A spokesperson said: "Our sincere thanks to all who supported our June event at St Columba's Parish Church, Largs.
"As well as welcoming over 200 listeners, the afternoon saw a hugely generous £1,306 raised in donations.
"Sowne of Organe is ring-fencing this amount to support either the promotion and maintenance of the organ should it remain in St Columba’s, or to donate to a project to re-home it, assuming it is entirely unaltered and restored.
"We are very grateful to the congregation, minister, and church community for their assistance surrounding our visit, and eagerly await updates on this precious instrument’s future."
