IT may be hard to believe, but this month marks 10 years since the Queen's Baton Relay passed through Largs and Millport on its way to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The sun shone in July 2014 as leading figures from both communities were given the honour of carrying the baton through the district.
Comedian Karen Dunbar was asurprise baton bearer in Largs, and said: "It is fantastic, when you consider the amount of places it has been.
"It has been through tens of thousands of hands - and I feel very privileged to be one of those hands!
"The sun is shining - who could ask for more? It is a personal highlight for me in that I will be moving faster than a very slow walk which has its own comic value.
"I am a bit of a sprinter for a good five or ten yards, and then everything falls apart - so I will be going at a canter, maybe more of a trot!
“I have many special memories of Largs, and have been coming here since a kid. It is lovely to be here on this special day."
Karen received the baton from Zoe Maclean and her canine partner, Remus.
Zoe said: “That was absolutely brilliant - the whole experience was just unbelievable. I couldn’t believe so many people had come out to see it and to support the Queen’s baton relay."
Another baton bearer was Largs Boys' Brigade captain Jim Lamont, who said: “It was fantastic running along the seafront and seeing all the people, and having the Boys Brigade here and the band performing.
"I can’t really explain it, but just to be part of something like that is wonderful. To think that the baton has been all over the world, and you are getting a chance to run with it."
