Threats were made to a member of staff in a shocking incident at a supermarket in Largs.
The incident happened in the Co-op in Gallowgate Street on Sunday, June 30.
According to police, an employee at the store was subjected to threats when they confronted a member of the public on suspicion of shoplifting.
The person then made off from the store.
Police enquiries are continuing into the incident.
An account of the incident appeared in the crime report provided by Police Scotland to Largs Community Council, covering police activity in the town from mid-June to mid-July.
Police Scotland revealed in the recent North Ayrshire Council meeting with emergency services that there was a greater focus on shoplifting after a reported rise in such offences.
