The Largs RNLI Duck Race was a fantastic fundraising event for our local lifeboat heroes.
The fundraising branch arranged another successful rubber duck race event on Saturday, July 13 which was well supported by the community.
A total of 1,600 ducks were launched into the Gogo Burn from the bridge next to the Morrison's roundabout.
The winner of the top prize of £100 was Lee Mitchell, who is one of the managers at Wetherspoons Paddle Steamer in Largs.
A total of 1,591 tickets were sold for the event, with various cash prizes up for grabs on the day.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "A total of 1,600 little yellow ducks were released into Gogo Burn on Saturday floating their way to the finish line past the huge crowds of supporters who turned out for this highly anticipated event.
"Volunteer crew were positioned along the bankside to assist the ducks on their journey and gather up any of the stragglers.
"Duck number 1131, owned by Lee Mitchell, was the first lucky duck to cross the line. All of the owners of the other prizewinning ducks have now also been contacted by the fundraising team."
Linn Munton, Fundraising Chair at Largs RNLI, said: "My thanks go to everyone involved in arranging this quacktasic event.
"As a charity the RNLI rely on the donations and support we get from the public to allow us to continue to save lives at sea.
"Everyone at Largs RNLI is very appreciative of the support we receive from our local community and would like to thank all of those who bought a duck for this event."
