A construction firm for a new housing development in Largs has donated surplus materials to the Men's Shed based in the town.
The Clyde Coast and Cumbraes Men's Shed provides an important resource for men from Largs, Millport, Skelmorlie, West Kilbride and Fairlie.
Members can come together and relax with a cuppa, enjoy conversation and spend some time together making or repairing items.
The group have received a shed-load of support from local businesses, with donations of tools and materials, while membership numbers have also been steadily growing.
Ashleigh Limited Scotland is the latest firm to provide a helping hand to the community run organisation.
A spokesperson for Ashleigh said: "Our project team at St Mary's recently donated surplus materials to the Clyde Coast and Cumbraes Men's Shed.
"By providing these materials, we hope to help the Men's Shed continue it's fantastic work, bringing people together and promoting mental well-being."
Work is progressing rapidly to create 26 new council homes on the site of the former St Mary’s Primary School in Largs.
Once complete, the development will be a natural extension to the neighbouring 123-unit Flatt Road development which was completed in 2022.
The homes at Linn Avenue will be the latest addition to the council’s house-building programme which is delivering more than 1,600 new homes right across North Ayrshire.
The £6 million project was given the go-ahead following extensive discussions with the Scottish Government, with £4 million secured through its Affordable Housing Supply Programme to enable 26 additional homes to be added to the council’s previously approved new build commitment.
The new homes, which will be available for affordable rent from the council, will provide a mix of two and three-bedroom amenity and general needs homes.
Construction work is expected to be completed by spring 2025.
Membership to the Men's Shed is free. For more details about joining the Men's Shed, go to the 'Clyde Coast & Cumbraes Men's Shed' page on Facebook.
