A long-established Largs hotel has been given the go-ahead for a variation of their licence following a major refurbishment.
The Brisbane Hotel made the application at a meeting of North Ayrshire Licensing Board with their eye on the weddings market.
Legal representative Archie MacIver said: “A couple of years ago, the hotel came under new ownership. My clients have carried out a very substantial refurbishment of the premises to the tune of £1.8 million.”
“They hope to re-position the hotel and want to focus on the functions market and more particularly the weddings market.
“They anticipate holding 100 weddings a year and in addition expect the premises to be used for corporate events and local community hires. Effectively this is a function-based proposal.
“The number of bedrooms has been reduced to 19 as a couple of bedrooms have been made larger.
“There will no longer be any public restaurant – the use of the restaurant is aligned with the function business.”
There were no objections and the application was unanimously granted.
