A revealing first look into the new Thirty 3 restaurant in Largs has given the public a flavour of what to expect when the eatery opens later this year.

The Instagram page for the Main Street venue shares a sneak peek at the renders for the Thirty 3 dining room.

It is described as a 'luxurious setting with warm tones combining a dark green palette and luxurious leathers in a vintage meets modern setting'.

A spokesperson for Thirty 3 restaurant said: "We’re working hard behind the scenes with lots of messages asking about when we open our doors to the people of Largs.

"All to be revealed soon."

The News reported last October that a major renovation was planned for the former Lounge site, with its new owners planning to invest a six-figure sum in the revamp.

When complete, the new venue will comprise of a restaurant, entertainment, and events venue, and hotel.

Phase one of 'Project 33' will see the bar, restaurant and nightclub renovated, with an anticipated reopening later this year.

The second stage boutique hotel development is not expected to open until near the end of next year.

The couple behind Project 33 are entrepreneurs Kevin and Janet Cumings, who have recently been living in Zambia.

And their long-time friend, Largs resident Walter Smith MBE, is acting as project consultant and overseeing the resurrection of the building.

Mr Smith said: "We are now hoping to open in November and will be running events at the bar and restaurant, with the second stage of the boutique hotel development following twelve months later.

"Our events room is 90-95% finished.

"The roof terrace will be the same size as before and it will have a geodesic dome which means it can be used all year round.

"We will be having an electronic lift which can be accessed via the rear of the building and it will be in place and accessible from day one when we open, and we are just completing the brand new accessibility toilet.

"It has been a dream to see it getting resurrected, and people will see all these exciting developments take shape over the next couple of months."

The property was built in 1902 and was home for decades to the popular Mackay's tearoom, before the Happy Days fitness club and Carriages nightclub in the 1980s, and Lounge more recently, occupied the building.

Local tradesmen have been heavily involved in the work carried out so far.

Mr Smith added: "The significance of the scaffolding when you look at the height of it has been to renovate the whole beautiful sandstone building.

"We have also had the whole restoration inside and one of the things that was key to us was to involve the local tradespeople big time.

"It was key we got the benefit of the local roofers, tilers, plumbers, joiners, roofers, and removal people and we have had the whole variety of all the various occupations. It was a very key focus to involve the local community in our project."
