A total of £2,220 has been raised for Guide Dogs Scotland following a successful garden party fundraiser in Millport at the weekend.
The island garden party celebrated Captain, Greg Christie’s faithful guide dog and companion of over a decade.
Captain was a beloved member of the community and the campaign goal is to raise £2,500 to support the next generation of service dogs, and to name a puppy in training in his memory.
Visitors enjoyed crafts, home baking, locally grown produce, a silent auction and much more at the Age Concern hut and grounds.
There was also live music by Kerry Railton, as well as Millport Pipe Band and The Grumpy Old Pipers adding to the entertainment on the day.
One of the organisers, Amanda Tennent, said: "We’re really not far off the £2,500 target, so I’m going to continue promoting the donation link for another week.
"We want to hit the target we know will make a difference and start the training of a guide dog puppy.
"We’d also like Greg to be allowed to name a future guide dog in honour of Captain. Greg Christie & Christine Steverson have worked so hard organising the full event, not to mention the input from the community, so we want to hit that total for them.
"Congratulations to Greg and Christine on hosting a wonderful Charity Garden Party in honour of Captain for Guide Dogs Scotland.
"Your hard work and dedication made the event a tremendous success. Thank you so much to everyone involved."
