New information signs, including a tourism map, have been installed near Largs seafront to promote local attractions and upcoming activities.
It comes after Largs Community Council received a grant of £1,615 from the Kelburn Wind Farm Fund for the purchase of two notice boards and the commissioning of a tourist map to go into one of the boards by Nicolson Digital in Largs.
An information board at the seafront car park was taken away a year ago by North Ayrshire Council after complaints over inaccurate and outdated information.
It referred to Anderson Park as Ardrossan Park and also pointed people to the Marine Biological Station on the Isle of Cumbrae, which is now the Field Studies Centre. Critics also said that it was 'tatty' condition.
The new modern boards are already promoting local events, including Largs Community Council's cinema showing of Kung Fu Panda 4.
Community councillor Frank Alexander has been working on the project over the past six months.
He said: "We are hoping that there will be a business directory on one of the boards in future, and we have been in contact with Heather Meldrum from the Largs Community Development Trust about that.
"There is a paper copy of the final draft of the map but Nicholson Digital are providing a weather proofed board that will be inserted into the display board. It will be double projected as it will be within the perspex frame.
"We wanted to find an area with good visibility. Through speaking with Drew Cochrane of the Kelburn Wind Farm Trust, we were put onto Thomas Reaney of Streetscene.
"They are going on the wall on the side of the Gallowgate Street toilets which has good visibility for people arriving via the seafront car park, and it is at the back of The Fish Works, and close to one of the pay stations for the seafront car park as well.
"We would like to thank Kelburn Wind Farm Trust for all their help in the provision of these new information boards in the town."
