Hi! How are you today? Is this the third time you have not skated past ‘Thought for the Week’? Has last week’s offering made you question me, the author; or have you tried to question yourself?

It has taken me a long time, but I am now more inclined to question my attitudes than I had been in the past. I try harder to see the best in people, rather than getting hot and bothered about why and what they do.

For example, there was a time, and occasionally it still raises its head, when I found some road users inexplicably annoying; and often a rant would issue from me. My wife, a ‘white-knuckle’ passenger while I am driving, keeps telling me that when I get agitated I risk having a heart attack or a stroke; and as a former nurse, she is probably right.

Now I am inclined to give other drivers the benefit of the doubt. Has that anything to do with faith, or is it just common decency?

But if only the other drivers paid more attention to the rules of the road, I would not get hot and bothered. There I go again! It’s ‘me’ - selfishly, I know!

If you think the world revolves around you, as I freely admit I sometimes do, try to think differently.

The Bible says: ‘Love God and your neighbour as you love yourself’. That is as true a test as you will find anywhere.

It can be easy; it can be problematic; but if you pass that test, surprisingly, you will benefit, and so will everybody else.
