A councillor has urged Amey to ease the road congestion headache for motorists north of Largs with the Viking Festival coming up.

The concerns are in relation to traffic lights set up on the A78 following a collision, which are sometimes causing congestion during busy periods.

Conservative councilor Tom Marshall has alerted Amey to various concerns from constituents over the roads network with the forthcoming Viking Festival set to bring hordes of tourists starting on the weekend of August 31

In an email to Amey, North Coast Cllr Marshall wrote the following: "I know that following the road traffic collision with the railings on the A78 just south of North Castle a few weeks ago, the traffic remains under lights control.

"With the Largs Viking festival takes place in 10 days time, I would be obliged if you could inform me when a repair is going to be effected  and I trust that this will not take a number of months as occurred previously."

Cllr Marshall has also written to Amey for a second time regarding the collapsed road sign on the A78 to the south of Largs, and has asked why there has been a delay from his first enquiry regarding the matter on August 8.

He wrote the following: "I note that yellow reflective bands are being fixed to lampposts and other road furniture throughout Largs and I am interested as to the reason for this.

"The road sign  is in a prominent place on the northbound carriageway of the A78 just as one enters Largs and you can see from the image that the panels have collapsed and are  not readable."

Amey have been contacted for comment.
