A FORMER shop in West Kilbride is getting a brand new makeover ahead of its reopening to the public later this year.

As previously reported, a planning application was submitted to North Ayrshire Council in May this year to bring back the former Keystore store on 97 Main Street to use.

The unit was first used as a licensed convenience store in 1820, and traded as 'Dunlop Grocers', under James Dunlop, until around 1907.

It was first formally registered in August 1993, with the registration transferring to a new tenant 13 years later.

And now in an exciting social media update the new owner, who has named the shop West Kilbride Village Store, has shared photos to show the progress made to eager customers.

The photos show the shopfront getting a brand new look and the shelving that remained inside ripped out.

In announcement online, they said: "Hi everyone. As some of you will know; we have taken over the old Keystore on the Main Street and will be completely refurbishing it over the coming weeks into what we hope will be your go to village store!

"We thought we would share some photos of the progress thus far. "
