A long awaited resurfacing of a cracked up access road in Skelmorlie is set to be completed.
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch echoed the frustration of villagers when Longhill reopened after a lengthy closure for combined works over the summer period, only to find that the road resurfacing hadn't taken place.
Residents said that the road was "dangerous" due to the scale of the cracks and potholes in the area.
And in other long awaited good news, all works on Eglinton Terrace and Annetyard Drive will commence from beginning Monday, September 2 and will be completed during that week.
Road marking works will follow thereafter dependent on suitable weather.
North Ayrshire Council confirmed Longhill had re-opened following a month long closure for Scottish Power lighting works on August 19 in time for the schools going back - but without the road final surface being laid by the council, which was the prior arrangement.
One of the main reasons that the works have been taking place over the summer months has been in order to avoid the peak period during term-time.
The reason the road has not had the final surface laid was due to waiting for Scottish Power to carry out disconnections to existing columns.
There was a chance that when these disconnections were completed that they may disturb the road surface, which led to an enforced delay of the new surface being laid until the disconnections were completed.
The council stated that the delay was "obviously regrettable, however the timescale for Scottish Power’s attendance has been out with the council's control".
