The high level of shoplifting crime in Largs shows no sign of ending after hitting double figures again from mid-July to mid-August.
The stats were revealed at Largs Community Council meeting, with only four of the 11 incidents detected by police, including a theft at the Co-op in Gallowgate Street on August 4.
The incidents occurred at the Co-op on July 17, Morrisons twice on July 18 and again on July 23, and Geraldo's Gift Shop on August 2, which also resulted in a retail worker being assaulted, as recently reported.
There was another incident at Morrison's on August 8.
A person was given a reported police warning for a shoplifting incident at Farmfoods in Boyd Street on August 6, and Geraldo's was targeted again on August 8, leading to another warning issued by police. The last incident reported took place at Morrison's Supermarket on August 11.
Concerns over the rise in incidents over recent months were raised at the recent community council meeting held at the Vikingar!
Police Scotland revealed at a North Ayrshire Council meeting earlier this year that there was now a greater focus on shoplifting after a reported rise in such offences.
A dedicated retail crime team has a focus on detecting shoplifters and also working with shop owners on prevention methods.
Police say North Ayrshire has been subject of organised criminal teams who are operating throughout the country.
