Ayrshire's Scott Walker got the chance for a chat with a music legend, when he encountered Rod Stewart in a plush Glasgow restaurant at the weekend.

Saltcoats man Scott, who spent 25 years working at Nardini's in Largs,  was bowled over when he saw the Maggie May singer, who was more than happy to pose for a photo.

Scott, who now works offshore, was visiting Glasgow with his wife Nikki and couldn't believe it when he encountered Rod.

He said: "We were in the Anchor Line Restaurant in Glasgow when I met him, and he couldn't have been nicer.

"Rod was celebrating after being at the Celtic game and was in a very good mood as you would expect.

"I had a good chat with him and he had a pair of lucky Celtic socks on. We had a great laugh. He was a pure gentleman and was very relaxed, and he was there with a couple of friends.

"One lady gave him her baby to hold for pictures and he was great."

Scott said that his own personal favourite Rod Stewart song had to be the iconic 'Maggie May' and it was a 'dream come true' to meet the chart-topper.

Rod is no stranger to Ayrshire, having previously visited Largs more than 50 years ago to meet the Scotland national football team, when he was swamped by fans.

Scott started off working at the big Nardini's Cafe as a popular waiter on the front of house staff.

He followed the Nardini family to work at Regattas (now Scotts at Regattas) for many years and latterly worked at Nardini's at The Green Shutter, and went on to serve as assistant manager.
