MILLPORT is set to welcome an acclaimed musician from Shetland for a one night only performance in The Newton Bar.

Cumbrae Live presents Barry Nisbet, who is a composer and song writing artist inspired by environment, nature and Shetland tradition.

His music features strong melodies, often fiddle-led, with a voice that explores timeless or modern themes through Shetland dialect and Isles-accented English.

Open ocean, stories, and evocative moods are often features of his music; the power of nature weaves a common thread.

When not travelling the seas as founder of the ‘Sessions and Sail’ project, Nisbet records and produces in Cullivoe, Shetland.

Since being announced earlier this week, nearly three-quarters of the tickets have been sold.

A spokesperson for Cumbrae Live said: "Do not leave it too late if you would like to come for what is going to be a fantastic night of music with Barry Nisbet on November 9.

"Doors will open at 6pm on the evening, with food served 'til 7.30pm.

"Live music will start at 8pm with an after party 'til 1am."
