IN this week's delve into the news archives, we head back to September 1989.

In historical terms, 1989 saw the fall of the Berlin Wall, which brought about the reunification of Germany.

It was a significant year for Sky Television who went on air with three new services – Sky News, Sky Movies and Eurosport.

The 16th James Bond film, Licence to Kill, was released and became the first Bond film not to use or paraphrase the title of an Ian Fleming story.

And just starting out in this brave new world were primary ones with new intakes at Fairlie and Brisbane Primary school being pictured by Clive Couch.
