THE new session of the Opportunities In Retirement group in Largs is underway, providing activities and healthy exercise for over 50s.

The committee recently invited all members and those who were thinking of joining to come along to the Largs Community Church halls where the group's varied selection of activities were showcased.

The OIR carries out a diverse range of activities from learning languages to hillwalking, to keep fit classes and much more.

The long running group has an 800-plus membership, and even has its own premises in the town at the foot of Waterside Street on Irvine Road.

The organisation exists to encourage and facilitate interesting activities for those who have retired, or who may be thinking about it.

Most activity groups depend on the initiative, skills and voluntary contributions of individual members.

Members are encouraged to suggest and help to promote additions to the list of activity groups
