THE continuing link between Largs and Andernos-Les-Bains in France is continuing to blossom with another successful visit abroad taking place earlier this summer.

Largs is twinned with Andernos-les-Bains, a town roughly the size of Largs which is 30 miles south-west of Bordeaux.

The official twinning with Andernos les Bains was marked at a signing in ceremony in Largs in January 2009, sparking a friendship which has endured and blossomed in the 15 years since.

Thanks to Largs Town Twinning Association and its counterpart in Andernos, there's an exchange visit organised each year.

In June this year, a group from Largs visited France where they were hosted by locals and entertained with meals, Basque singing, a wine tour of a Bordeaux chateau, a meal on an island and so much more.

Next year Largs will welcome a group from Andernos and plans are already underway for their visit.

In between the exchange visits, social evenings are regularly hosted, and the next one will be in Woody's Bar at The Woodhouse Hotel at 7.30pm on Thursday September 19.

For those who can join earlier, an AGM is being hosted at 7pm in the restaurant. This in an ideal opportunity to relax with a free drink and find out more about the association before mingling with members.

If you can't make the 19th, Largs Town Twinning Association will be holding a quiz night at Largs Bowling Club on Friday, October 4.
