THE summer season of music draws to close in Millport this weekend at the Cathedral of the Isles with the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra performing for the final event of 2024.

The famous orchestra, which has played for 40 years and has performed in many different countries, will give a lively concert to complete the season which has seen a total of 16 concerts taking place in the cathedral.

Wallace and Lex Galbraith founded the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra in August 1982 with the aim of encouraging and developing Scots fiddle music among local young musicians.

The orchestra has developed a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the most entertaining fiddle music in Scotland and are continually offered many musical engagements not just in Ayrshire but throughout Scotland and beyond.

The event begins at 3pm on Sunday, September 29 and is free entry with retiring donations taken thereafter.
