CHILDREN from St Mary's Primary School in Largs bagged it up as they cleared their surrounding area of rubbish during an environmental project for Keep Scotland Beautiful.

Pupils were surprised by the amount of litter picked up on the day which amounted to a full bin bag.

A school spokesperson said: "The eco pupil leadership group worked hard to Keep Scotland Beautiful by tackling one of the group’s identified priorities: litter in the playground.

"We worked together to pick up a lot of litter - one full bin bag!

"In response, we will be using various skills to educate others on the dangers of litter and to promote caring for our environment."
