A SWIMMER from West Kilbride who has made headlines all over the world for his record breaking feats has put out a special message on World Mental Health Day.
Andy Donaldson has been making waves in Ayrshire, Australia, New Zealand and America with his incredible swimming achievements, most recently completing a world record breaker as he took part in one of his most exciting swims yet - the '20 bridges swim' around Manhattan island.
The 45.9km swim through the city that never sleeps had been a dream of Andy's for years.
He completed his epic 45.9km swim in a time of five hours, 41 minutes and 48 seconds.
In a message to his Facebook followers on Thursday, October 10, Andy said: "Today is World Mental Health Day.
"Having faced my own challenges with mental health, I know first-hand just how tough things can get. But I also know there’s always hope, and we never have to go through it alone.
"For me, the ocean has always been my escape. Swimming clears my head, and being with loved ones reminds me I’ve got a support network that’s got my back.
"If you’re struggling, please know that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Together, we can break the stigma, offer each other support, and create a safe space for everyone to share their stories.
"Mental health matters. Let’s lift each other up and keep moving forward."
