A COUNCILLOR has voiced his shock at a damaged bus shelter in West Kilbride which was torched by vandals.
No entry tape has been tied around the bus shelter in Seamill, close to the junction with Yerton Brae.
The roof of the shelter and the internal area inside is damaged, and appears to be written off.
Pictures of the shelter show the extent of the damage.
It is one of the most scenic bus shelters on the Clyde Coast with an elevated view of the Isle of Arran in the background.
North Coast Conservative councillor Todd Ferguson said: "That is absolutely shocking, I hadn't seen or heard anything about this. I have made some enquiries to see when it is getting replaced."
An SPT spokesperson said: “SPT was made aware of damage to the bus shelter which has now been removed from the site. We are in discussions with the local Council regarding available funding required to replace the shelter.”
A police spokesperson said: "The bus stop appears to have burned deliberately.
"We were made aware of the matter at the time along with Scottish Fire who attended also. A crime report has been raised for wilful fire-raising and there is a definite line of enquiry that is being followed in relation to it."
