Blast from the past: Largs junior golf memories from 1989

We turn the clock back to 35 years ago this week when the Largs Golf Club junior prizegiving took place.

It was also the Routenburn Golf Club prizegiving for the ladies as the main golf club season reached its end.

Do you recognise any of the young faces who will be in their late 30s and early 40s today?

Young faces of 1989: Largs Pop-in Creche (Image: Newsquest) And there was some acapella style musical entertainment at the Clark Memorial Church fete with a group of singers entertaining the masses, and were getting well paid for their endeavours - with all proceeds going to the church funds.

The Millport Boys Brigade were looking smartly dressed and ready for service. As late photographer Walter Kerr told us in his handwritten note accompanying the below photograph: "The boys of the Millport company have carried out a lot of activities including camping, football, firefighting, swimming, badminton, basketball, seamanship. They have a lady captain Ms Jackie Wilson and she is very ably assisted by a member of very good officers."
