THE organisers of Saltcoats' Christmas Carnival have been given an early present thanks to a cash donation from Hunterston Rotary Club.
The group are seeking support and volunteers for this year's event, which will provide a free day out for families and individuals of all ages in the Three Towns.
It includes entertainment throughout the town with local and up and coming artists, Santa's Grotto and a disco. Activities in Saltcoats Town Hall will include a fairground and Santa abseiling from the clock tower.
Accepting the £200 award last week, Kyle Haddow, chairman of the Saltcoats Community Action Group, said: “Saltcoats Christmas Carnival was delighted to have this contribution towards purchasing selection boxes and children's books to issue out to kids attending the grottos to meet Santa.
"Unfortunately, last year the event was cancelled due to lack of volunteers. However, this year, we now have a strong committee appointed to ensure the event continues within the town.
"It’s heart-breaking knowing that there are many kids within the Three Towns that will wake up on Christmas Day without any gifts and this why we are striving this year to make sure every kid that attends the event can receive a gift and have that experience with Santa.
"The day will be filled with fun activities including a colouring in competition, a fairground, a magician, live entertainment and much more.
"Thanks again to Hunterston Rotary Club for their continued support.”
