NORTH Ayrshire Council has launched a community consultation to gather views on a proposal to put in place an additional council tax levy on second homes from April 2025.
The consultation is now under way and will continue until November 21.
The aim is to increase the availability of housing by encouraging more homes to be used for living in and to generate additional revenue for the council to help protect vital services.
The Scottish Government has introduced new powers which enable councils to double the rate of council tax payable on second homes.
The council is seeking the views of people from across North Ayrshire, especially island communities on Arran and Cumbrae.
