FILMING is taking place in North Ayrshire for an exciting new project this year.
'Piece of Mind' is a short film being developed by Next Take, an organisation dedicated to creating projects with young people from diverse backgrounds.
The story is about a village that was raided and suffered from a devastating attack more than 250 years ago, and ever since then it’s been remembered with a 24 hour silence every year.
They've partnered with North Ayrshire Council, who are allowing them access to funding and facilities for the second year in a row.
Majority of filming will be based North Ayrshire, with some shoots taking place across East Ayrshire, and Dumfries and Galloway.
Inspiration for the project came from frequent debates the team had during the development stage.
Director Max McGregor said: “We started at the beginning of the year thinking about what to make.
"I think this started with persistent themes, everyone’s come up with their own themes and things that are generally quite personal to people.
“We made these debates, and we started debating them with teams for and against, creating lots of different arguments.
"There’s so many different ways to see a common thing, and one isn’t’ necessarily right or wrong, but it can be hard to see that if you’re on one side or the other.”
They wrote the script between February and August, and now filming is taking place between October and next year.
The core crew consists of 10 to 15 young people, and all members are aged between 14 to 25 who aim to meet up once a week.
Their company was founded after the success of their previous film 'Different Ways', which was about the story of a Ukrainian refugee travelling across Scotland.
Since beginning filming, they've launched a GoFundMe, to help them afford additional resources.
Max added: "As much as we received support, it’s not as much as we originally needed to do this because it’s a longform project, but we’re looking ahead into saving for next year and to make sure we can produce something that’s got 100 per cent effort put into it.
"Its and put it into things like editing which we don’t have, anything that goes towards all that that allows to keep going into next year.
After wrapping production, their main aim is to share the film as much as possible. They plan to have a premiere, host a screening, and even submit it to film festivals.
