LARGS and Millport has been battered by Storm Ashley, prompting travel disruption in the region.

CalMac's Largs to Cumbrae service has been suspended due to adverse weather with Storm Ashley expected causing more disruption as the day went on.

There had been sailings earlier on Sunday morning but the service was pulled at 10.15am with subsequent reviews at midday, 2pm and 4pm where the decision was taken to suspend sailings for the rest of the day.

High waves at Saltcoats making contact with the overhead wires meant all lines were closed, with trains between Largs and Kilwinning revised to start/terminate at Kilwinning.

These services have now resumed.

And ScotRail say precautionary speed restrictions are in place across Ayrshire until Monday morning, with longer journey times expected.

An amber high wind warning has been issued by the Met Office with wind speeds of up to 80mph expected in some areas of Scotland, and a yellow warning of up to 65mph winds covers the whole of Scotland.
