THE groundbreaking Virtual Dementia Bus is coming to Largs to give residents the chance to find out what it's like to live with the condition.

Members of the public are encouraged to pay the bus a visit on Tuesday, October 29 at Cumbrae Engagement Hub, off Cumbrae Gardens in Flatt Road.

Invented by Professor P.K. Beville in the United States more than 25 years ago, the Virtual Dementia Tour has been proven to change practice, improve knowledge and general outcomes for those who have family members, carers, or friends with the condition.

It allows you to enter the world of the person and understand which simple changes need to be made to their practice and environment to improve lives of people with dementia.

Largs Dementia Friendly have been involving in bringing the Virtual Dementia Bus back to the district, and are looking for members of the public to participate.

The Virtual Dementia Tour has been available in the UK for over six years and over one million people have gone through the process.

Dementia Friendly Largs has secured funding from Locality Participatory and UK shared Prosperity Fund 2023/2024, and are therefore able to offer this training free to local businesses, care staff, paramedics, fire brigade, first responders, community workers and family members.

The dementia bus will be in Largs from 10am-1pm, and 1.30pm-4.30pm. To secure a place on the bus email christine.malcolmson@sky.com.
