A POPULAR detective drama filmed in Ayrshire is set to return to our TV screens next month.
Shetland, starring Ashley Jensen and Alison O'Donnell, is returning to our screens for a ninth and tenth season.
Filming took place across Scotland earlier this year, with Jensen and O'Donnell reprising their roles as Detectives Ruth Calder and Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh.
The last season of the show averaged seven million viewers and was the first to feature Jensen in the leading role, after replacing Douglas Henshall as Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez.
Though set on the islands which give the series its name, many scenes from the show have been filmed across Ayrshire over the years - with the latest having been recorded earlier this year.
Crews were spotted on the Old Largs Road near the boundaries of North Ayrshire and Inverclyde.
The show has previously been filmed across South Ayrshire, as well as at Irvine Beach in the north of the authority.
The show is based on the books of the same name, created by author Ann Cleeves.
Season nine of the show is set to begin on BBC One on Wednesday, November 6.
