A FAMILY from West Kilbride have appealed for help to find their missing dog as temperatures plummet.
Eight-year-old lurcher Chase has been missing since Sunday, November 17, and the search for the beloved pet has now been joined by Ayrshire Drone Dog Rescue.
The dog's owner Kaitlynn said: "Chase is not just a dog; he is a cherished member of our family, and we are desperate to bring him home safely.
"With temperatures plummeting to -7°C this morning, we are gravely worried about his well-being.
"Chase may be frightened and seeking shelter, so we’re pleading with everyone in the area to check their outbuildings, sheds, garages, barns, or any place he might have curled up for warmth.
"Farmers and landowners, please take a moment to check any sheltered spots or machinery where Chase could be hiding. Lurchers are gentle and often shy, so he may not respond immediately if he’s scared.
"Time is critical, and every bit of help counts. Even sharing this message can make a difference. We need our boy home, safe and warm.
"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any assistance you can provide."
Ayrshire Drone Dog Rescue added: "We were able to search quite a bit of The Glen with the drone, as well as much of the railway.
"What we are very grateful for is the amount of you that have gone out in these freezing temperatures to look for Chase.
"Normally we ask people not to search, but due to these temperatures, we are grateful to have as many people looking as possible.
"If you see him and he won’t willingly approach please let him go on his way, as a dog being chased tends to make mistakes like running into roads and our concern is the proximity of the railway and there’s also water running close by.
"A photo or video would be great, direction of travel, what3words app will give us an exact location.
"Thank you all so much and let’s get Chase home to his distraught family."
