A SERIES of events to explain the early learning and childcare enrolment process will be taking place in North Ayrshire.

Officers from the local authority will be in the five mainland localities to help parents/carers understand the available provisions.

The registration process is open from January 6 to January 31, 2025 and funded early learning and childcare (ELC) is available to all three and four year olds and eligible two year olds.

Entitlement is up to 1140 hours per year.

The council say one of the misconceptions is that there are ‘catchment’ areas for early years provision.

There are no catchment areas for early years provisions and whilst they make every effort to accommodate parental preferences is not always possible to place children in the early years establishment of their choice.

The events will give people a chance to ask any questions they may have and provide reassurances ahead of the registration process opening.

The events take place at the following times and locations:

  • Irvine, Rivergate Centre – Monday, December 2 (1pm-3pm)
  • Kilwinning, Ayrshire College – Tuesday, December 3 (11am-1pm)
  • Garnock Valley, St Bridget’s Primary – Wednesday, December 4 (1pm-3pm)
  • Three Towns, Saltcoats Town Hall -  Thursday, December 5 (10-12pm)
  • Largs, Largs Campus - Friday, December 6 (10-12pm)
