SKELMORLIE 71st Ayrshire Group recently visited the Largs RNLI on its 60th anniversary year to see how the local lifeboat volunteers help save lives.
It was an exciting opportunity for the Cubs to visit the Largs lifeboat station which was built in 1998. the RNLI are also celebrating 200 years of saving lives at sea around the UK.
RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews have to be ready to answer the call to rescue 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When the pager goes off, they know that someone is in desperate need of rescue.
Every year, RNLI lifeguards protect beachgoers across the UK and Ireland. From safety advice and casualty care to saving those in danger of drowning, they have to be ready to rescue at all times during the busiest season of lifesaving.
A Skelmorlie 71st Ayrshire Group spokesperson said: "A huge thank you to RNLI Largs for having the cubs for a visit.
"They had a fantastic time learning about water safety, checking out the equipment and learning how the lifeboat works."
