AN impressive total of £5,500 has been raised thanks to a community triathlon event held at the Vikingar! to raise proceeds for the Largs Food Bank.
Organisers were delighted with the response from the community which resulted in a total of 48 triathletes taking part.
They swam, cycled and ran to raise funds and awareness of Largs Food Bank. The event was organised by Allison Campbell and Susan McNicol.
Allison said: "Altogether we have raised over £5,500 so far which will make such a difference to so many people, especially over the winter months.
"Thank you to everyone who took part, donated, baked and volunteered, we couldn’t have done it without you.
"We’d also like to give a special thanks to Christina Malloy at KA Leisure for donating the facilities at Vikingar for us and for all the wonderful staff who arrived early and stayed late to support us.
"A huge thank you also to all of our lovely local sponsors, these wonderful shops must be asked so often to donate to charity events and they do so willingly."
Thanks go to Mack Betty, Be Well Be You, The Fish Works, Room, Geraldo's, Largs, Costa Coffee Largs, The Three Reasons, Morrisons Largs, The Rowan Tree at Haylie Stores, Copper Nut, Ivory Mac, Wilkies, Samantha Kennedy Florist, Boutique Hair Spa, Riviera Largs, Nardini at the Moorings, Reds Hair Studio, Nardinis Parlour, and Tony Macaroni.
Foodbank co-ordinator Wendy Low Thomson said: "It was a fantastic day - thank you to all our volunteers and athletes who have given so much to the community by supporting the foodbank."
