A FORMER Largs business premises has been given the green light to be turned back into a house.
Riversleigh, on 9 Kilwinning Road in Irvine, used to be the home of the now defunct Largs Matters Limited for just under a year and a half.
As previously reported, the steering group for Largs Matters, which ran the Business Improvement District in the town, stood down in October 2018.
The project was previously the vehicle for a number of initiatives designed to raise the town’s profile, bringing a number of festivals such as food fayres and a classic car show.
The company moved from Gallowgate Lane to the Irvine building in May 2017 until its closure a year later.
Now, North Ayrshire Council has approved planning permission submitted by Thomas Rankin to change the office building back to its original use.
In a handling report on the decision, a council official said: "It is considered that the building would be suitable for use as a single dwellinghouse, reflecting its original purpose.
"The building has an attractive traditional design with a street frontage onto Kilwinning Road. It benefits from a large curtilage with ample off-street parking and enclosed garden ground to the rear.
"It is considered that the re-use of a listed building of domestic character as a dwellinghouse, being its original use, would be appropriate and preferable to the building falling into disuse and disrepair."
The application was approved with no conditions.
